# Hooks for compilation start/end

I’m not familiar with the hooks, but I get the total compilation time for a function by summing the pipeline steps, inspired by _ **the** _ @stuartarchibald [here](https://numba.discourse.group/t/how-do-i-find-out-what-the-compiler-is-spending-its-time-doing/381) 🙂
